Brenda Faye Watson answered the call from heaven on January 18, 2023. She was the first born to the late Willie E. Watson and the late Helen F. Kennard on November 2, 1953.
A native Houstonian raised in the heart of 3rd Ward, where she attended J. Will Jones & Turner Elementary, Ryan Middle School, and Jack Yates High School until they relocated to the South Park community. Due to moving and zoning, she graduated from Ross Shaw Sterling High School. She continued her education at Alvin Junior College obtaining her administrative assistant certificate. She later attended Houston Community College in pursuit of a nursing career.
At an early age, she accepted Christ at Jordan Grove Baptist Church. Brenda later became a member of Holman Street Baptist under the leadership of the late Rev. Sherman A. Douglas, where she was involved in Mission, CPA (Concerned Parents Association) and the choir under the leadership of the late Shephard Teacher, Manson B. Johnson. In 1996, she went on to join the Bethel Praise & Worship Center family under the leadership of the late Lionel Keys. Brenda was involved in the children and youth ministry as well as the Deaconess Ministry under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Dwight Keys.
In 1985, Brenda began her career in the utility industry, working for a small family business known as Muniservice. She worked with this company for more than 20 years, helping the company to grow until it was sold. She continued working in the utility industry until attaining a job with the City of Houston. She worked with the City of Houston until her health began to fail.
Brenda was a very charismatic and candid person with a very generous heart. Her home was always a haven for family and friends. She was known in the community and by her church families as the hairdresser and the seamstress. On any given Saturday morning you could visit and receive a big hot breakfast, get your hair done and experience a laugh or two.
In 1974, she married her high school sweetheart Bobby W. Scott and to this union they loved and cared for their four children; whom will cherish their memories with her forever, Brian (Kennisha), Brenna, Brandon and Britney. She had a vast love for family, always lending a hand to care for her nieces and nephews. This love afforded her the opportunity to raise her niece, Deondria as her own daughter. She had an infinite love for her goddaughter Deadria Allen.
Brenda affectionally known as Granny, leaves precious memories with her grandchildren, Sydney Fairbanks, Haleigh Scott, Brandon Scott,II, Christian Fairbanks and Briannee Scott. Brenda was keen on creating lasting relationships with her late parents, her aunt Bennie Mae Mckinley (Frank), her bonus mom Mary Watson, all her siblings, Debra Green (George), Pamela Campbell (Ceasar), Memorie Huelett (Micheal), Malandria Watson (Terry), Billy Watson (LaQuisa) and Michael Watson (Rhonda). Her relationships were everlasting, creating a bond that was unbreakable with her mother-in-love Eleanor Caesar and her sisters-in-love the late Bridgett Scott, Linda Williams-Moore (Harlon), the late Wanda Scott, Tanya Scott, Donetta Scott, Constalene Ferguson (Kenneth), Jackie Ward (James), Diane Norton (Ervin), and the late Vanessa Johnson.
She leaves a host of relatives and friends to cherish her memories.
