Obituary
Calvin Andrew Barkley, 98, passed away on January 8, 2023, in Waco, Texas. He was born on
November 11, 1924, in Dallas, Texas and lived most of his life in Houston or Bryan, Texas. He
is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Frances (Fry) Barkley, his sister Betty Rolke, his
brother-in-law David Rolke, his sister Virginia Baker, one granddaughter and two great
grandsons.
“Old Man” Barkley is survived by his son Cal Barkley and wife Sue, his daughter Frances
Dieterich and husband Gene, his grandchildren Ashley and Randy Hildebrandt, Susie and Randy
Rios, Billy Wood, DeWayne and Fawnda Emery, Donna Lene, and Amy Dieterich, seventeen
Great Grandchildren and one Great-great Granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends.
Calvin graduated from Lamar High School and attended Rice University and the University of
Houston. He started his career in banking and spent most of his time as a
bookkeeper/accountant. Later in life he considered raising his cows as his therapy.
Interment will be at 11:00am on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
