Carrie Lee Benard, 80, peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones early in the morning on Tuesday May 2nd 2023, in Deer Park Texas where she has lived for the last half of her life. Carrie was born on September 7th, 1942 to parents Bert Hulett and Alice Shannon in Buchanan Kentucky.
Carrie was the most loving and nurturing soul, she never met anyone who didn’t like her. She never had a mean thing to say about anybody. She had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and taken care of. She was always so good at making people laugh, too. She was most famously referred to as “Nan” once she had grandchildren, and that’s how she introduced herself to everyone she had met since. She was well known for being a wonderful cook, and you knew Nan liked you if she made you something to eat (which she almost certainly did). Carrie was also very strong in her religion, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and made sure everyone knew it too. She was and always will be a blessing to everyone that knew her.
Carrie was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Alice Hulett; her beloved husband, Charles Benard; her siblings, Elbert Hulett, Edna Murray, Charlotte Ratcliff; and first grandchild, Blake Beckham. Carrie leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Don Peregoy; grandchildren, Christopher Beckham, Hayley and Ryan Hearn; sister, Frances Larson; and several nieces/nephews and brother/sister-in-laws who she also adored.
The family is choosing to have a private memorial at a later date once Carrie has made her way to her final resting place next to the love of her life in Ashland, Kentucky.
