Janis Kay Bagby Sorrels, 84 of Pasadena, TX passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022 from Alzheimer's Disease. Jan was born at Mercy Hospital in Slaton, Texas on July 27, 1937 to Lou Ella Henry Bagby and John W. Bagby. She attended Slaton public schools and called Slaton her "home" even though she moved to many other cities throughout her life. She was an accomplished pianist, serving at Sunday services at the First Presbyterian Church in Slaton and other churches. She was also the piano accompanist at many weddings, graduations and other events. Jan loved all animals, and never forgot her childhood menagerie (including an orphaned raccoon named Ricky), as well as the many dogs and cats she rescued and raised throughout her life. Jan was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Ronald Bagby. She leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie Sorrels of Fredericksburg, VA and husband James Poole, Cathy Sorrels Brown of Arlington, TX and husband Phillip Brown, Christy Sorrels of Pasadena, TX, and Connie Sorrels of Pasadena, TX and husband Gregory Heine. She also leaves her 5 beloved grandchildren Seth Brown, Sam Poole, Will Brown, Avery Heine and Riley Heine. Arrangements will be handled by Ridgemont Mortuary Funeral Home and burial will be private.
