Kevin Andrew Thrower passed away due to cancer treatment complications while surrounded by his family on January 9, 2022. His 13.5 year battle with cancer was a testament to his love of life and family.
Kevin was born February 15, 1959, in Bartlesville, OK, the second child of David and Stella Stockton Thrower. He attended St. John Elementary school, Central Jr. High, and College High School, graduating in 1977. He participated in many community and school activities including Boy Scouts; playing trumpet in the marching band; participating in school plays and the debate team; and Spanish club. He worked with Bartlesville Ambulance Service and spent his senior year of high school in Freiburg, Germany, as an exchange student with American Field Service (AFS).
Kevin graduated from Baylor University in 1981 with a BA in Economics and again in 1985 with his MBA. On the third day of Chemistry class at Baylor in 1977 he met Jan Ballard, and they married in 1982. They settled in Waco, TX where they raised a daughter, Jennifer, and two sons, Scott and Mark.
During his lifetime Kevin worked many places, including Waco Exporters and Traders and their subdivision Waco Turf Farm, Word Records Inc, American Amicable/American General, and Texas Life Insurance. He worked passionately for over 20 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing at Allergan/AbbVie.
Kevin attended church at First Woodway Baptist Church starting in 2005 and was an active member of the Northern-Graham Life Group. He enjoyed many hobbies, including traveling, cooking, jewelry making, sculpting, gardening, and reading. Most of all, he loved playing with his grandchildren.
Kevin is survived by his wife Jan Thrower; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Spry of Waco, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sara Thrower of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Clarissa Thrower of Waco, TX; grandchildren Sterling and Coral Spry and Stella and Samson Thrower; sister Nancy Thrower of San Antonio, TX; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and John Payne of San Antonio; sister Brenda Thrower Stubbs of Charlotte, NC; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Stella Thrower; brother Gregory Thrower; and sister Mary Thrower Hedbany. Kevin was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made in the form of contributions to First Woodway Baptist Church, Caritas Food Pantry, or Care Net of Waco.
A celebration of life for Kevin will be held at First Woodway Baptist Church on Saturday, January 22nd at 1 PM with reception following.
